Show WORK ON UP&L NORTHWEST GRID SYSTEM TO BEGIN SALT LAKE CITY Construction of u modern high tension transmission transmis-sion line to interconnect the Utah-I Utah-I Idaho power systems with those ot Montana, Oregon, and Washing. ton to form a giant Intermountain-Northwest Intermountain-Northwest power grid will begin this week, it was announced today by George M. Gadsby, president, Utah Power & Light company. The proposed transmission line with its shiny copper icables operating oper-ating at 101,000 volts will stretch 277 miles from Anaconda, Mont., where it taps the already developed develop-ed power pool of Washington, Oregon Ore-gon and Montana companies, to Grace, Idaho, where it joins the Utah-Idaho system pool. In conformity with .the electric utilities' intensified national defense de-fense efforts to have ample powei ready, Mr, Gadsby said the date for completion of the project has been set for January 1, 1941. |
