Show HARRIS STEPHENSON FUNERAL MONDAY Impressive funeral services Monday Mon-day in the Fourth ward chapel paid tribute to the life of Harris A. Stephenson who died at his home on Friday, June 19. Angus Keller, first counselor of the bishopric, presided at the services ser-vices and resolutions of sympathy from the Preston-"Whituey Irrigation Irriga-tion company were read by James B. McQueen. Speakers were Dan Taylor, George Burgi and J. Clifford Clif-ford Forsgren. Musical numbers were given by the ward choir, a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Estus Pucker, two vocal solos by Merrill Iv. Gee of Pocatello' a solo by Bishop Horace Baugh and a cello solo by Dewey Olsen. Prayers were offered by Ether Esplin and P. M. Condie. Dedication Dedica-tion of the grave in the Preston cemetery was made by a brother, Daniel P. Stephenson. Pallbearers were the six sons of Mr. Stephenson. Mr. Stephenson was born December De-cember 22, 1876, m Adamsville, Beaver county, Utah, the son of Archibald Benjamin and Susan Ma-Hall Ma-Hall Simpkins Stephenson. He married mar-ried Sophronia Ann Bennett on November 24, 1897 in the Logan temple and spent his married life farming in Franklin county. Fifteen Fif-teen children were born to this couple. His wife died January 22, 1930. Mr. Stephenson served as bishop of the Mapleton ward for several years and upon moving to Preston he served as home missionary and high councilman in the Oneida stake. He was a director of the Preston-Whitney Irrigation company com-pany at one time and had served as a city councilman. His widow, Amiiia G. Anderson Ander-son Stephenson, whom he married mar-ried on January 12, 1933, and thirteen thir-teen children survrve him. The children are, Guy of Boise; Lorin of Wendell; Kenneth and Carvel of McCall; Sophrona Agutter, Salt Lake City, Utah; RaMona Stephenson Stephen-son of Idaho Falls; Janice Andrea-son Andrea-son of Cleveland; Cassie Bell, Alta Hodges, Ada Hansen, Iris Erickson, Harris, Jr., and Allan of Preston. Brothers and sisters include Dan Stephenson of Lava Hot Springs; VenDean Stephenson of Ogden; Elizabeth Morehead of Los Angeles; Ange-les; Alice Merrill of Preston, Susan Su-san Turner of Grace. There are 34 grandchildren. |
