Show Night Driving Is More Hazardous BOISE D. F. BanKs, director of the bureau of safety, says the man in the batter's box may miss three curves before he is out; the driver only one. No man should drive a car unless un-less his every faculty is clear and alert, Banks continued. Drink or fatigue in the driver's seat is more dangerous than leprosy, three times over. Three out of every five traffic deaths occur at night, so it is important im-portant to be fully awake to the hazards or driving in darkness. Two weeks ago the papers of the state icarried a warning from Commissioner Harry M". Rayner, directing attention to the danger of fatigue in night driving and citing the trip home from a dance. Three days later a party of young folks were nearly home from a dance when a tire blew and left three dead. During August ten deaths occurred oc-curred because the driver's brain was befuddled, cither from drink or fatigue; nearly 60 per cent of the monlh's total. We know these; there may he. more. |
