Show FOPULAR REUNION HELD FOR MISSIONARIES Mormon missionaries from thru, out the Utah and Idaho region who have returned within the last six years met in Preston Monday in a returned missionary reunion sponsored jointly by the Oneida and Franklin stakes Returned Missionay organizations. Practically Prac-tically every mission in the United Unit-ed States and many foreign and island missions were represented. Meeting in the Preston Fourth ward chapel at noon for an informal infor-mal program and at 2 p. m. in the Preston city park for a luncheon, program and social-get-to-gether missionaries numbering 111 attended. at-tended. Principal speaker for the occasion occa-sion was Abel S. Rich, former president of the Canadian mission. He told the group to keep the same ideals and work for progression progres-sion at home as was done in the mission field to read from some good book at least once a day. Speaking of friendship he said no firmer or more solid friendships were formed than those formed in the mission field. He reminded missionaries of the great responsibility responsi-bility that rates upon them because be-cause of the fact that thought in God among nations and individuals individu-als is becoming less and less. Short responses were given by the following representatives from the various missions: Les Armstrong, Arm-strong, Western States; Keith Keller, California: Vaughan Crane. Texas; Floyd Fifield, East German; Ger-man; John Anderson, Swedish; Herman Richa.'ds, New England; Gerald O. Munk, Northwestern; Kenneth Hatching, Canadian; Lau rel J. Fifiel'l, Central; James Con-die, Con-die, French; Herbert Whitworth, Western States; Delmar Olson, Spanish-American; Don Handy, New Zealand; Orson Smith, Eastern East-ern states; Woodrow Winward, Ntherlands, and Barton Bowden, English. Taking part on the program were string trio composed of Vauna Barton, Radia Morrison, and Ruth Webber; vocal solo, Lyle Shipley; reading, Nedra Hansen; accordian selections, Leona Bri-tenbeker; Bri-tenbeker; trio, directed by Mrs. Given Gregorsen; and address of welcome by Carina Gamble. Wood-row Wood-row Rasmussen conducted the program. |
