Show Preston Men Elected S.I.C. Officers BEN JOHNSON NAMED PRESIDENT Charles Cutler Re-elected Secretary; Montpelier Man Named V. President Ben B. Johnson, prominent Preston Pres-ton attorney, was elected president of the Southeastern Idaho Associated Associ-ated Civic Clubs for the year 1941 at the annual election of officers held Thursday evening at Lava Hot Springs. Johnson, who succeeds William B. Hunt of Lava as president, is well known in Idaho civic work, having been state president of the Idaho Junior Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, and at the present time serving a term as a director on the board of the National Junior Chamber of Commerce. Rulon Bartchi of Montpelier was elected vice-president, and C. W. Cutler of Preston was re-elected for a second term as secretary-treasurer. secretary-treasurer. Following the election, the new president took over and led a discussion dis-cussion on objectives of the organization organ-ization for the coming year. Secretary1 Sec-retary1 Cutler gave a report on the growth of the club, pointing out that since being established only a year ago, the group now has a membership of 12 clubs in the Southeastern sectioii of the state. Serving as a "clearing house" organization or-ganization for the civic clubs in this sector, the new organization appears destined to play an important im-portant role in the affairs of Southeastern South-eastern Idaho. Chairman of the following committees' com-mittees' were appointed : Max Cohn of Arimo, chairman roads committee; commit-tee; Rulon Bartchi of Montpelier, publicity; Lloyd Pope of Montpelier, Montpe-lier, tourist committee; Moroni Low,. Grace, Industry; Seth Kel-sey, Kel-sey, Montpelier, Fish and Game; Leo Bennett, Thatcher, agriculture; Milton Horsley, Soda Springs, legislative; leg-islative; and William Hunt, Lava, chairman of Lava Hot Springs Foundation promotion. Other important im-portant committee chairmanships will be made at the next meeting of the organization, to be held in the near future. The following clubs were represented repre-sented at the meeting at Lava on Thursday evening: Montpelier Chamber of Commerce, Montpelier Lions club, Village of Arimo, Lava Hot Springs Lions club, Preston Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Preston Senior Chamber of Commerce. |
