Show CINCINNATI EVENS COUNT IN WORLD SERIES The Detroit Tigers and the Cincinnati Cin-cinnati Reds were deadlocked at one game apiece at the end of Thursday's play in Cincinnati. Detroit De-troit won the first game of the series by pounding out a decisive 7-2 victory. Cincinnati came back strong in Thursday's game however how-ever as they won a close 5-3 victory. vic-tory. Paul Derringer started pitching for Cincinnati in the first game but a five-run uprising sent him to the showers in the second. Buck New-come New-come toed the rubber for Detroit to get credit for winning the game. In the second game Bucky Walters, Wal-ters, ace of the Cincinnati pitching staff, set the Detroit sluggers down to get credit for victory. Lynnwood "Schoolboy" Rowe started on the mound for Detroit but he was jerked in the third Inning in favor of Gorsica who pitched masterful ball the rest of the way. Friday, Saturday and Sunday's games will be played at Detroit with the Monday and Tuesday games, if necessary, being played in Cincinnati. |
