Show PRESTON YOUTHS INJURED IN UTAH ACCIDENT Five persons from Preston and one from Lewistou, Utah, were injured, in-jured, two seriously, last Friday when a car driven by Ira Taylor, 17, Preston, skidded off the highway high-way and collided into a car driven by Mrs. G. J. Baker of Cornish. The Preston car was traveling south on U. S. highway 91 and it collided with the Cornish car traveling trav-eling north one mile north of Smithfield Most seriously injured of the group was Alice Pond of Lewistou. She suffered a fractured ' vertebra and a fractured shoulder. According Accord-ing to reports Miss Pond suffered a great deal of pain in the setting of the broken bones but is resting better at the Cache Valley hospital in Logan. Also seriously inured was Stewart Stew-art Paton, 17, of Preston. He suffered suf-fered a brain concussion and back injury. He is also reported im proving and is expected to he removed re-moved from the Budge Memorial hospital in Logan this week. Released from the hospital Monday Mon-day were Elwood Peterson, 17, and Beulah Bosen, 17, both of Preston. Pres-ton. Mr. Peterson suffered a slight concussion and fractured right shoulder. Miss Bosen suffered from shock and cuts and bruises. She was held in the hospital foi possible internal injuries but none became evident. Released following treatment on Friday night were Ira Taylor, driver dri-ver of the car, and Miss Conna Beth Beckstead, IS, of Preston. Mr. Taylor suffered from shock and bruises while Miss Beckstead suf, fered from head lacerations and bruises. In the other car besides the driver dri-ver who received head and nose cuts were Mrs. W. J. Helwig, 56, of Cornish, head injuries; Mrs. Mary Belle Pike, 42, of Cornish, cuts and bruises; and Betty Baker, 10, of Cornish, cut lip and bruises. Stormy weather is blamed most for the accident. It occurred about S:30 p. m. |
