Dinner was served to the fourteen four-teen members present at one large dining table centered with a lovely love-ly bowl of spring flowers. Novelty place cards in pasted shades completed com-pleted the. charming appointments. Mrs. J. Xeff Hoothe, invited guest of the club, reviewed the hook "The Giant Joshua" by Maurine Whipple. Whip-ple. mothers honored i;y needle group Honoring their mothers and molher-in-.laws, members of the Young Mothers Needle-work Group were hostesses at the home of Mrs. Carl G. Nielson Friday afternoon. The afternoon was spent in needle-work. Bringing to a close the social afternoon, a delicious luncheon was served to the guests at one largo dining table, center-pieced with pink and white sweet peas, which completed the pink and white color scheme use in the appointments at the table. The honored guests were pre- COLDEN HOUR CELT,, NO-HOSTESS PARTY Members of the Golden Hour club enjoyed a no-hostess party last Wednesday afternoon at Merrill's' Mer-rill's' confectionery. Luncheon was served at two o'clock. Following the luncheon the club went to the liome of Mrs. May I'oagu where the remainder of the afternoon was spent in playing bridge. Mrs. Stella Boot he and Mrs. Sadie Elliot were1 special guests ot the club. Score honors were won by Mrs. Ruth Sanford and Mrs. Sue Merrill. WASATCH CAMP DUP MEETS THURSDAY The Wasatch camp of the DUP met last Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Annie McQueen. The lesson was given by Mrs. Elma Swann. Mrs. Mabel Cutler and Mrs. Adeline Fortie favored the group with two vocal selections. selec-tions. Their accompanist was Mrs. Letha Neeley. Light refreshments were served to twenty-five members by Mrs. Myrtle Neeley, Mrs. Nettie Peterson, Peter-son, Mrs. Klea Harris and Mrs. ..una Palmer. and ward social which will take place May -0 at eight p. m. at the new ward chapel. 'The social and bazaar will be followed by a dance. Funds received from the social will be used to complete the new chapel. The party, incidentally, is the, first one to be held at the new chapel. The Bazaar and Social will be under the supervision of Bishop Ariel Nash who extends a cordial invitation to all. CO-HOSTESSES Q IOLD I5R1DGE PARTIES Mrs. E. R. Spilsbury and Mrs. Orvid Culler were co-hostesses at a duo of bridge parties held at the Cutler home Friday afternoon and evening. A dainty one-thirty luncheon was served to the twelve guests seated at small tables. The tables were centered with lovely bowls of lu-lips lu-lips and stocks. Individual corsages were given to the guests. Score winners at the afternoon of bridge were! Mrs. Jack Sanford and Mrs. Ray Bright. The evening dinner was served at one large table centered with a large bowl of red tulips and white stocks with lighted white tapers. Corsages were also given to the evening guests. Score prizes were won by Mrs. Inette Wilson and Mrs. Gaylord Larson. SYRINGA CAMP DUP MEETS AT MILLERS The Syringa camp of the DUP held its encampment last Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ralph Miller. New officers elected were: Mrs. C. L. Jenkins, re-elected captain; Mrs. Miranda Peterson, hold-over, second lieutenant; Mrs. Stella Boothe, first lieutenant; Mrs. Ivan Goff, hold-over, secretary; Mrs. Louise Shumway, treasurer; Mrs. Ruth Perry, historian; Mrs. Delia Chadwick, registrar; Mrs. Mary Pratt, chaplain; Mrs. Olive Geddes, organist; Mrs. Viola Alder, holdover hold-over chorister. The lesson was given by Mrs. Anna Palmer. Financial reports were given by Mrs. Palmer, Mrs. Emma Beckstead and Mrs. Jenkins. Mrs. LaPriel Hyer of Lewiston, Utah, gave an interesting travelogue trav-elogue on her trip to the Hawaiian islands and Japan just previous to the war. Agatha Hyer, daughter of Mrs. Myers, danced and sang several Hawaiian numbers dressed in Hawaiian costume. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Karl Cutler, Mrs. Beckstead, Mrs. Juanita Roe and Mrs. Etta Gibson. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Larson of Boise and Mrs. Dan Western and Mrs. Melvin Koompin of Pocatello visited Monday and Tuesday at the home of L. R. Kirkman. LO PINE DUP CAMP AT CUTLER HOME The LoPine camp of the ' DUP met Wednesday afternoon at the home) of Mrs. LaVinnia Cutler. Mrs. Millie Stevens gave the lesson les-son for the afternoon. The biography biogra-phy was given by Mrs. Ida Evans and Miss Janet Spilsbury, accompanied accom-panied at the piano by her mother, moth-er, Mrs. E. R. Spilsbury, sang two numbers. Light refreshments were served by the hostess at he close ot the afternoon. BRIDGE GROUP MEET WITH MRS. CONINE Thursday evening, club associates associ-ates of Mrs. A. C. Conine enjoyed an evening of bridge at the Conine home. A delicious dessert luncheon was served to the guests at one large dining table centered with a large bowl of tulips. Patriotic favors were given to the guests. Mrs. Charles Weaver was a special spe-cial guest of the hostess. Score honors were won by Mrs. Harold Olsen and Mrs. Weaver.. ' MRS. EAMES, HOSTESS TO LITERARY CLUB Members of the Ladies' Literary club met in regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Aerial Eames Thursday Thurs-day afternoon. Mrs. Phenoi Edgley gave an interesting in-teresting review of the play "There Shall Be No Night" by Sherwood Anderson. C. where she will become the bride of Orrin Merrill, Jr. A large novelty candy corsage with miniature individual corsages marked the places for the ten guests at dinner. Following dinner the evening was spent in making a,lbride's book. FINE ARTS CLUB AT BECKSTEAD HOME Members of the' Fine Arts club met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Farrell N. Beckstead. An interesting review of the book "Saphira, the Slave Girl" by Willa Cather was given by Mrs. Elmo Keller. An election was held with Mrs. Beckstead elected president; Mrs. Theron Seeley, vice-president; Mrs. Keith Campbell, secretary-treasurer; Miss Dorothy Wakley, reporter. Light refreshments were served at the close of the enjoyable evening. |
