Show 'mariorik' TRirr wed STEWART PATON Stewart Paton. son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Taton, was married Saturday morning in Preston to Miss Mar-jurie Mar-jurie Tripp, daughter ot Hyrum Tripp of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Reed McAllister of Salt Lake City, an aunt of the bride was present at the ceremony which was performed perform-ed by Bishop Howard Hall. Miss Tripp is well known lu Preston, having spent the past year with Mr. and Mrs. Thatcher Hundley and she is a graduate of the Preston high school. Mr. Paton also graduated from the high school in Preston. The couple will make their home in Preston during this summer. Don Bright spent the past week visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bright of Preston. He is on furlough from the army an 1 is stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. Washing-ton. Y. Miss Joyce Jenkins left recently for Ithiea, New York to visit with her Aunt Cornelia, widow of Mrs. Lee Packer, accompanied by Dr. Reuben Hill and Mrs. Packer's two small children. Mrs. Packer is a teacher in the Cornell university. univer-sity. Miss Jenkins plans to spend the . summer there and complete her senior year in high school. Her former high school days were spent at Preston high school. She is the daughter, of Mrs. Emma P. Cordon and twin sister of Miss Jean Cordon. HOSTESS TO CLUB Leah Knudsen was hosiers at two tables of bridge Friday afternoon after-noon at her home. A dessert luncheon lunch-eon was served by the hostess and high scores were won by Mrs. Knudsen and Mrs. Frank Foss. SYBIL THOMPSON TO MARRY CIIICAGOAN Mr. and Mrs. Vernon. Thompson of Preston Route 1, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sybil, to Edward Neumann of Chicago, Chi-cago, Illinois. Both Miss Thompson and Mr. Metnnaun employed by the war department in Washington, D. C. She is well known in this, com-muiiity com-muiiity having attended schools here and graduated from Freston High School. She was employed in Salt Lake City for about a year and last November she left for Washington for her new position. The wedding will take place late this fall. MISSIONARIES MEET AT HOWELL HOME A group of former missionaries who labored in the Northwestern States mission field were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Howell last Wednesday evening at a lawn party and evening of games. The group included Mr. and Mrs. Joe Oborn, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Condie, Mr. and Mrs. Pertus Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schow ,Mr. and Mrs. Howell and Mrs. Rhea Bailey of Salt Lake City. Osborn Golightly entered the Ejudge Memorial hospital Friday for medical treatment. FACKRALL GIVEN ARMY SENDOFF A jolly farewell party honored Ray Fackrell last Wednesday evening eve-ning prior to his departure on Thursday morning for selective service training. Boy friends of Mr. Fackrell gathered at the home of Morris Merrill where a midnight luncheon was enjoyed around the outdoor fireplace. The group then accompanied him to the early morning train. RED CROSS MEETS AT GIBSON HOME Ladies of the Red Cross Knitting group met at the home of Mrs. Robert Gibson last Wednesday. Following an afternoon of sewing and refreshments, plans for a canyon can-yon outing were completed.
