Show LOCAL YOUTH WEDS WEST COAST MAID AT RENO, NEVADA MEMORIAL DINNERS ARE BEING ARRANGED BY DUP Advance plans are being made by each oi' the fourteen- DUP camps in the. county for memorial dinner: which will mark the birthday anniversary anni-versary of Brigham Young during, the first part of June. All persons are invited to attend these camp dinners which are held to raise funds for the memorial building now being erected in Sail Lake City to house the relics gathered gath-ered by the daughters of the Utah pioneers. A dinner was given at the home of the honoree with daffidols centering the table and' favors of a patriotic theme. Mrs. Joe Moser and Mrs. Oral Lamoreaux were in charge of arrangements. STAKE MISSIONARY GROUP ENTERTAIN FOR MEMBER - Members of the Franklin stake home missionaries group held an evening social for Mrs. Darwin Rawlings at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orion Jensen Thursday. A luncheon and hour of sociability were enjoyed. Mrs. Rawlings was formerly Miss Elsie Sharp. Lesson work was conducted by Mrs. Rozella Dnnklcy and a sketch of the life of a pioneer mother was given by Mrs. Kate Swainston. Tanner attended the National Na-tional Beet Growers convention in Cheyenne, Wyoming, April 25. Mr. Tanner was accompanied to the convention by J. R. Rawlins of Draper, Utah. These two men represent rep-resent the sugar beet growers of Utah and southern Idaho on the national organization's board of directors. di-rectors. IN CAST OF COLLEGE PLAY Two Preston students of the Albion Al-bion State Normal school are named in the cast of the three act play, "Magnificent Obsession," which is to be presented May 13 at Albion by the shooi's chapter of the Delta Psi Omega, a national dramatic honorary society. Wayne Chatterton, son of Mr. end Mrs. Je?se Chatterton, will play the main leading part as Bobby Merrick. Miss Zelma Winger,, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Winger, will take the part of Mar-l Mar-l ha. MRS. SPILSBURY HOSTESS AT LITERARY LADIES MEET Thursday afternoon the Ladies Literary club met at the home of Mrs. E. R. Spilsbury for their regular regu-lar work. The book reviewed by Mrs. Stella Boothe at tlie gathering was the "Winds Wept," by Mary Ellen Chase. LELAND TANNER MISS FLORENCE HOLZBOCK TWO PARTIES GIVEN FOR MRS. SINCLAIR Two no-hostess socials were given giv-en by friends for Mrs. Mildred Sinclair Sin-clair prior to her departure for Salt Lake City where she will make her home. A handkerchief shower was given Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Rose Olsen by a group of lady friends. Wednesday afternoon the Golden Hour club ladies entertained in honor of Mrs. Sinclair at the home Mr. and Mrs. Byron Tanner of Riverdale announced the recent marriage of tlheir son, Leland, to Miss Florence Holzbock of Yuba City, Calif., at a reception given in honor of the newlyweds April 22 at the Tanner home. Guests included in-cluded relatives and close friends. The young couple were married April 1G, at Reno, Nevada. Musical numbers furnished during dur-ing the evening were by Mrs. Le Roy Tanner and daughter, Dorothy, of Mrs. May Poage. A two o'clock luncheon was served from one long table. Bridge games which follow-ed follow-ed brought score prizes to Mrs. Alma Evans and Mrs. Poage. Mrs. Sinclair was given a token of remembrance. re-membrance. Miss Dorothy Tanner, Tan-ner, Miss Glenda Smith and Miso Iva Lou Smith presided in the dining din-ing room where a delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served. Miss Twila Smith presided in the gift room. Tlie bride is the charming daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. John Holzbock, a long established family of Yuba City, and is emp.'oyed by the state of California. She is a 1940 graduate grad-uate of the Yuba Junior college. Mr. Tanner is a graduate of tlie Preston High and the Utah State Agrcultural college in 1909. At present he is employed as a public accountant by William Neill of Marysville, Calif., where the couple will make their home Their many friends wish them happiness and I succes in their marriage. |
