Show URGE CAMPAIGN TO I DESTROY FLIES EARLY IN SEASON The fly. that annual household I st. will soon be with us in great lordes unless we do something a'lout it now. One pair of flies i stroyed now will prevent the 1, .tuning of millions of descendants t annoy us later in the year. Flies r e not only very annoying, but t'.ey are carriers of disease as well. 1 ;iey breed and feed in places v here disease germs are very likely like-ly to be. The germs adhere to the I ir on the legs and feet of the f'es and are thus carried to our h iines where individuals are apt t,; contract the disease. Ivy L. Smith, County Home Management Man-agement Supervisor of the Farm Security Administration makes the suggestion that thK is the time o1' tlia year when window screens a id screen 'doors should be check-e check-e I, repaired, and hung in place s that the first flies can be kept o it of our homes. All garbage c::ns should have good tight covers and should1, be kept, covered. Barnyards Barn-yards should be kept clean and all n anure should be hauled away reg ularly and spread thinly on the fields or should be treated with chemicals that will prevent the de. velopment of the eggs deposited there. Flies can be destroyed by tne use of fly traps, various types of poison fly paper or tapes, poison sprays or a good handy fly swatter. The trap is probably one of the best methods in use to destroy flies in quantity before they get a chance to get Into our houses. This year we would like to see at least two good fly traps on, every farm, one near the house, and one neai the barnyard. Now is the time to construct these traps and get then into use. Anyone interested may see tin models of fly traps on display ai the office of the Farm Security Ad ministration in the Greaves building, build-ing, at Preston, Idaho. Information on fly control is also available at this office. n r |
