Show TRAFFIC TOLL IN NEW RISE In our nation, where the shattering shatter-ing of records in all forms of endeavor en-deavor has become commonplace we have again hung up a new record. re-cord. Instead of progress, however, it is a record of stark tragedy. Mr. Willis Wills, local D. M. of the Farmers Automobile Insurance Insur-ance Exchane, makes the startling statement that the traffic deatns in our nation during the month of August skyrocketed to an all-time high for that month, snuffing out 3,910 lives. For the year of 1941 traffic fatalities fa-talities show a net increase of 18 per cent over the corresponding period of last year. The main portion por-tion of the increase during July and August took a decided swing to cities of 10,000 and more popula tion. Despite efforts of traffic regulatory regulat-ory bodies, safety organizations and all who work for a solution to the problem, the toll of death and misery continued to pile up. The only answer lies in more coopera-tionon coopera-tionon the part of every citizen, more recognition of the situation in its true light as an individual problem. Drive Thoughtfully 1 o o |
