Show PRIZES OFFERED FOR POTATO RECIPES BOISE, Twenty-nine chefs of the nation will vie for cash prizes for the best Idaho Potato recipe, L. E. Sargent, secretary of the Idaho Advertising Commission announced an-nounced today. Quoting from advance proofs of advertisements appearing in restaurant res-taurant trade magazines November 1, Sargent said prizes of $100, $50, $15, and $10 are offered for the best recipe and cost per serving information on most popular Idaho Potato serving.. Also requested as part of the contest is a letter telling how the recipe was featured and promoted to the public. "Twenty to twenty-five per cent of all meals eaten are served by restaurants," Sargent said. "This makes the hotel and restaurant field one of the best for Idaho po-: po-: tatoes and onions. Much of the effort of the advertising commission commis-sion is directed at this group of buyers." Restaurants are being currently offered the "1942 Idaho Profit Kit," which contains 200 toothpick flags for serving on baked Idaho spuds, and six file-size cards on which are printed profesional Idaho Ida-ho potato recipes. Restaurant promotion of Idaho potatoes, according to Sargent, has been outstandingly successful and has started many restaurants using us-ing Idahos, not only for baking but for all purposes. Announcement of the chefs' contest con-test will reach more than 35,000 restaurants and hotels through the trade magazines, Sargent said. |
