Show IT Leave Ot? JHSgEa , Lynn J. Lawrence Will Assume Position In Music Department Says Board At the regular meeting of the Preston school board ths week the resignation of Stephen J. Lund-quist Lund-quist as high school music instructor instruc-tor was accepted. Mr. Lundquist is resigning to study dentistry. He will enter a Portland dental college col-lege in July. Mr. Lundquist has ably directed the musical organizations organiza-tions of the high school for the past two years. Four new teachers were elected to the Preston faculty. Lynn J. Lawrence was elected to succeed Mr. Lundquist. Mr. Lawrence iH a graduate of the USAC at Logan, and has done two years of graduate gradu-ate and private work at the University Uni-versity of California. For the paBt year he has taught in the Granite school district in Salt Lake City. Lyle Shipley was elected to a music and Engllsn position in the Junior high school. Mr. Shipley is a graduate of the Preston, high school, and this year graduated from the USAC at Logan. Miss Ila Ree Maughan was elected to a first grade position in place of Miss Helen Miller who was previously pre-viously elected but did not accept her contract. Miss Maughan holdB a normal certificate from the USAC and has taught first grade for the past two years at Wells-ville, Wells-ville, Utah. An English and history position in the senior high school was filled by Miss Zora Maaeser MisB Mae-ser Mae-ser is a USAC graduate and has taught English in Millartl high school at Fillmore, Utah, for the past two years. The school board approved the inclusion of a science of aeronautics aeronau-tics course In the senior high school for next year. This course is designed to give ire-flight training. train-ing. The 'principal topics to be taken tip in the course are as follows; fol-lows; design and destructive, communication, com-munication, rneterology, aerodynamics, aerody-namics, aircraft engines, elementary elemen-tary air navigation, safety and civil air regulations. In all probability the course will be open to juniors and seniors who have good records in science and mathematics. |
