Show Major Topics Discussed By 4-H Delegates Methods of breaking unsatisfactory unsatisfac-tory habits and acquiring the proper pro-per attitude toward the family, the home and the farm were the major topics discussed Thursday Thurs-day by the delegates attending the first annual state 4-H club short course which opened Wednesday Wed-nesday at the Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural college. The five discussion groups analyzed an-alyzed the bad habits that detract de-tract from a pleasing personality and set about to suggest satisfactory satis-factory habits to replace obnoxious obnox-ious ones. - "This group here is primarily interested in choosing mates and vocations", Eugene Merritt of the United States department of agriculture ag-riculture extension service explained. ex-plained. "You can't succeed in farming unless you like it. Habits Ha-bits should be developed that will carry you on in your work after you leave your parents' home and have no one - to call you in the morning or outline your tasks. If you don't like the farm you won't be good to the animals and give them the best treatment. Those people who love farming get fully 50 per cent more in production from animals anc5 cjropS ithan tjiose whefse hearts are some place else. It is our purpose here to help the young men and women find out if they are fitted for farming and if they are really interested in making it their life's work. We feel that it is essential to the success of a farmer that his m wife likes her husband's vocation" and is willing to work cooperatively with him; otherwise, if there is not mutual interest the enterprize will not be successful." Mr. Merritt then pointed out that by developing the right attitude at-titude within the home, toward other members of the family and the work itself, the young men and women will carry this attitude at-titude into homes of their own. Following the morning sessions the delegates were taken to Wells-ville Wells-ville where they visited the plant of the Morning Milk company. " . |
