Brown formerly a r resident s dent of and other parts of Iron Count County but of recent years of St St. Johns Arizona died recently at the tho list hat name named placa The deceased is a n brother to Mrs Emanuel Jacobson of this city Ity to whom we are indebted for fori the mation mutton of his demise Mr Brown was quite well known b by many of the older people of Iron County and was was when Jiving ere ere active in church and lInd atone at atone one time filled a successful to Glascow Scotland The following taken from the St. St Johns Chronicle makes mention of the passing of Mr Brawn Br Brown wn and some of his life lite activities Mr Brown Drown was vas widely known as asan asan asan an educator having established d. d the tha first school of high school gr grade dO in St St. Johns in 1888 He came hero here to found found the St. St Jol Johns Johns' s' s Stake Academy which he be conducted for a number of years He lie later became principal of district school No 1 I and after the Ithe t division of the district of school No to I 1 and No 11 Ulie he became principal of the latter As a a tribute to his his standing standing stand stand- ing as an educator he was appointed a member of the state board of id d- d resigning resigning- the position when he was appointed as postmaster of f St. St Johns In church affairs affairs' he took tooka a distinguished ish d part part Having come corne directly from a mission to Scotland to assume charge of the church school in St. St Johns he he immediately assumed ar an art active part in id church affairs Among the Hie many positions of importance he held ma may be named superintendent of Sunday Schools counsellor to Stake President mem member ber of high counsel u l and a patriarch the latter two of which he held heU atthe at atthe atthe the time of his death o i |
