Show UN UNITED I 1 TED STATES STATE S D DISTRICT I 1 ST rl CT ATTORNEY J W JUDD WHILE conversing with the above named gentleman a few days ago who recently returned from visiting friends in st louis washington and his old tennessee home we were informed by the judge that wb wherever crever he be went the people still talking about the splendid and creditable exhibit which utah made at the tennessee exposition and judge judd is of the opinion that it was instrumental in acquainting qua inting the outside world with the vast and wonderful resources resource of our state more than any other method which could have been adopted ex congressman JE washington of tennessee was a member of the committee which awarded the golden medals and he informed the judge that it afforded him much pleasure to record his vote in favor of presenting utah with a golden medal mr washington had always labored under the impression that utah could only produce sage brush bruah and a few worthless mormons cormons who were e king eking oat a miserable existence upon a barren desert but bat he was 9 greatly astonished when he beheld the magnificent display which greeted his eyes while strolling through the utah exhibit the judge was further informed by his distinguished friend that only four gold medals were awarded three were assigned 15 to the southern states and one to utah which fact ou ought 0 ht to make all those who are interested in the progress of our state feel highly honored judge judd is certainly deserving of great credit for the noble work which he accomplished in that direction we are not in harmony with the judges views on the financial question neither do we desire to advise the president respecting his successor but inasmuch as he has discharged the duties of that office to the entire satisfaction of the powers that be and in view of the fact that he is in sympathy with the administration we believe that judge judd ought to be permitted to out oat his term |
