S according to statistics is about 80 eggs for each hen in a year The average production of a good number of flocks properly fed and carefully bred is well ocr over 1 Tn Tit figures are conservative then which doubles the average production of 80 and shove shoys s the cost per dozen of egga oy ay pory try men producing an average of 1 ICO O ai as with the big of f the he tho countr country When grain costing per er pound Is used eggs egga from hens producing 80 eggs cost per dozen and the ICO agg production at 12 cents per dozen cost Then hens may be productive for forone forone forone one two or three years but not for six and seven years So culling is recommended to remove from the flock the hen with low producing quai ties either of conformation or od age The importance of feeding was shown by the demonstration of feeds and the resultant production of eggs from different feed rations The addition of only thirty cents per bird in milk and meat feeds changed well bred hen from below average to over egg hens Protein eggs cannot be produced by carbohydrate grain feeds alone In this exhibit car also the Utah Poultry Producers' Producers Association by means of eggs in cases shows the manner in which eggs are graded and packed to meet the requirements of both eastern and western markets into which Utah eggs are being delivered delivered delivered ered in increasing numbers Utah changed two years ago from froman an importer of poultry to toan toan toan an exporter of more than one million dollars worth of poultry products The possibility of avoiding losses in the shipment of eggs ggs and live Uve poultry through the tho use of cases and crates of the correct proportions and plan of construction as well as through the use of proper packing in the cases is shown by the exhibit carried in a baggage car especially prepared for this purpose by the American Railway Express Co On a flat car carried model paul- paul try houses including laying brooding brood ing and colony houses of designs approved ap ap- approved proved by the Utah Col Col- lege These show more clearly than could any other kind of exhibit the points to be observed in the construction construction construction tion of houses of any desired type The train is in charge of C.
