Show !da Christensen Called to Reward Mrs. Ida I. Christensen, a long time resident of Gunnison, and highly high-ly respected by all who knew her, died at the family residence in this city last Saturday, following an illness ill-ness of but six days. Mrs. Christensen Christen-sen suffered a paralytic stroke which caused her death. Mrs. Christensen was a native of Sweden, having been born at Kron-berg's Kron-berg's Lan, December 4, 1860. She was the daughter of Mrs. Gustave Lundin. She was married to Niels C. Christensen in the native land July 3, 1881 and six years later they came to America, settling in Gunnison, Gunni-son, where the deceased had resided continuously until her death. - Mrs. Christensen .was a quiet, good and unassuming mother and wife, and her thoughts were of home, to which she was devoted. Mrs. Christensen was the mother of eight children, and the father and six children are left as survivors. The children are Mrs. I. C. Williams,' Allenby, B. C, Canada; Mrs. Wm. Welch, Inspiration, Arizona; Mrs. C. L. Wilson, Gnnniison; John Christen-,sen, Christen-,sen, Lark; and Martin and Otto Christensen of Gunnison. Thirteen grandchildren are also left as mourners. mourn-ers. All of the children were present pres-ent at the funeral excepting two, the long distance away preventing their arrival in time. Her oldest son, John Christensen, accompanied by his family, arrived at the ' home just two hours before death claimed the wife and mother. The husband, three sons and one daughter were at the bedside when death calVid the mother to the great unknown. Impressive funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Relief Re-lief society hall. H. A. Kearns had charee of the services and a splen-d;el splen-d;el tribute was paid by those making: mak-ing: addresses. An appropriate musical musi-cal program and a profusion of flowers added to the solemnity of the funeral services. Interment was held at the Gunnison cemetery fol-lowing fol-lowing the services at the chapel. |
