Show Vandals Destroy Measuring Gauge Someone has been tampering with the water gauge at the water-measuring station at the Westview bridge and the net has been set to catch the culprits. If apprehended it is going to go mighty hard with the guilty parties as the state officers are extra severe with those who would destroy property belonging to it. Brice Mc-Bride, Mc-Bride, water commissioner for the Sevier river, on his recent visit, discovered dis-covered that some culprit, or a number num-ber of them, had been destroying the property at the measuring station. The window in the house that protects pro-tects the measuring apparatus, was broken out and the needle that makes the records of the water flow and measurements, had been tampered with to such an extent that the readings read-ings were of no value. Not content with tampering with the recording mechanism the vandals broke the lock that secures the cable car used for crosing the river and it was necessary for Mr. McBride to "coon" the cable to recover the car before he could reach the opposite side of the river. There is a standing reward of $25.-00 $25.-00 to anyone who will furnish information infor-mation leading to the arrest of any person ' guilty of tampering with the apparatus at the measuring station, and anyone found guilty will be subject sub-ject to a fine of $250.00. "We will not tolerate such actions and I have given instructions to apprehend ap-prehend the guilty parties," said Mr. McBride yesterday. "It is a serious matter and parents are warned to caution their children about, going near or destroying any of the state property. If those guilty are caught an example will be made of them." |
