Show New Regulations For Canal Company At the special meeting of the stockholders stock-holders of the Highland Canal company, com-pany, held in this city last Saturday, and at which fully seventy-five per cent of the stock was represented, either in person or by proxy, several important matters were taken up and settled, primary among which was the decision prohibiting any person or corporation from transferring into the Highland reservoir or canals, any water or water right belonging to any person, firm or corporation,; other than those of the Highland Canal company, except that the water rights so transferred shall be for the common benefit to all of the stockholders stock-holders of the Highland company. The Resolution, -Which was passed, provides' pro-vides' also that all waters shall be distributed dis-tributed to all stockholders of the Highland Canal company in the same proportions as that now in process. Action was further taken and directed di-rected that the board of directors of the Highland company be authorized to rent or otherwise acquire, such amount of water or water rights as may be necessary or desirable, from other companies or individuals owning own-ing water rights in other systems, and that the same shall be distributed to the stockholders of the Highland Canal company, in the same manner and in the same proportions as the waters owned by the Highland company. |
