Show Scientiests Study Tubercular Cattle Tubercular cattle of Utah are being studied by the department of bacteriology bac-teriology at the University of Utah, and it is hoped that some knowledge will be gained through the study which will help to control the spread of this disease among the cattle of the state, according to Dr. L. L. Daines, head of the bacteriology department de-partment of the university. This study is being carried on by the state institution through the courtesy of the United States department of agriculture. ag-riculture. Dr. Daines explained that the tuberculosis tu-berculosis in the cattle of this state and of those surrounding Utah, is confined chiefly to the skin. Little is known of this disease of the skin, he said. While doing some special research work in the east last year. Dr. Daines made a special study of tuberculosis in cattle. A number of specimens' from the skin lesions of cattle which had to be killed because of being tubercular, are now at the university and are being studied. A scientific study of these as well as many other specimens will be made. Assisting the dentists of Salt Lake City in a study of ulcerations which often follow the killing of nerves of teeth, the university bacteriology department de-partment has demonstrated how heart trouble and other affections result from infections at the roots of teeth. |
