Show Cily Hall Grounds j Undergoing Change! j Next spring the citizens of Gun-j ' nison will not be f creed to look upon 1 i the city hall grounds in disgust, and no longer will they have to strain their necks to see the building due to' a rank growth of weeds. On the I other hand they will be afforded a j greater pleasure, because they will j see a large transformation and in-stead in-stead of weeds, a beautiful lawn, 1 growing luxuriantly, will greet lovers lov-ers of beauty. During the past two! weeks, Mar.-hal Tollestrup, M-iyoi ! i Christiansen anil others have been j busy plowing, cleaning, raking and , planting and the plot surrounding' J the city hall already begins to as- sume beauty. The front of the grounds, as well as that both north and soutli of t he hall, has been plowed and levelled and cleaned of rocks. A copious supply sup-ply cf fertilizer 'has been added amt all has been planted to Kentucky blue grass and white clover. The Thompson sprinkling system, with forty sprays set at convenient places, has been installed. These aie l fed from the underground pipes and when water is turned on all sprays work in unison. j I Another added improvement at the hall is the building of a new jail cell, i The eld city "bastile," a disgrace to any community, will be abandoned and torn down. The new cell will be built in the south basement and it1 will be modem in every rcspoc'. Snn-: itation and safety will be paramount in the building of the cell. At a small cost a steel cage will be built in one end of the room, a comfortable: bed will be provided. In addition to 1 these improvements there will be a i lavatory and toilet. While it is truei Gunnison has little use for a jail, as j ; former records will sliow, but when! ! "tough" criminals are arrested, it! will not be necessary to take them j to Manti for safe keeping, as the I new jail for Gunnison will be amply i i strong. |
