Show Mayfield Couple Married 50 Years One of the big social events of the season was celebrated at Mayfield last Saturday, the ocasion being the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Anderson. Nearly 100 guests were present, many feeing there from Gunnison, Salt Lake, Salina and Manti. During the early afternoon a splendid program was given and it included an address by Parley Christensen, a duet by Wallace Wal-lace and Vera Wintch, a recitation by Delma Anderson, a song, "Silver Threads Among the Gold," by sons and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson. An-derson. Other numbers given were a song by several little children, a biographical bio-graphical sketch of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson by Milton Christensen, a recitation by Thelma Anderson and closing remarks by P. P. Dyreng. Preceeding the program an elaborate hot dinner was served at the Anderson Ander-son home. The affair was brought to a close by a big dance at the school auditorium. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson are pioneers pio-neers of Mayfield. They came to the valley 45 years ago and have resided here continuously since. They have eight children, 35 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, all of whom were present at the anniversary anniver-sary celebration last Saturday. The honor guests were showered with congratulations and they were the recipients of many beautiful presents. Mayfield Notes The Fourth, of July celebration here was a hugh success. A fine patriotic program was given at 10:30 in the morning and at 2 o'clock the children were entertained at 'a dancing danc-ing party. Following the dance a big program of sports was held and the contests were keen and exciting to the throngs that had gathered to commemorate the day. A dance was held at night fo all. Mrs. Carl Rohberg and children left last week for their home in Washington. They . were accompanied accom-panied by Miss Rachel Jensen, who will spend the remainder of the summer sum-mer there. Miss Ethel Lund of Mt Pleasant is here as the guest of relatives and friends. The new primary presidency gave a social in honor of the retiring presidency presi-dency last week at the home of Mrs. S. F. Anderson. Games were enjoyed enjoy-ed until a late hour, after which light refreshments were served. The retiring re-tiring officers are Mesdames E. S. Anderson, Orson Christensen and Clyde Willardsen each received a beautiful gift as a token of their good work. i Mr. and Mrs. Fred Christensen have gone to Twin Falls, Idaho, where they will enjoy a months visit with Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Hansen. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hampton of Big Springs, Nevada, are here visiting with relatives and friends. |
