Show PORTAGE. A Dreiulful irinrilge KpUlmlcIIiiHrtnj Times School Hint torn. Editok Biuiler: Not seeing anything from our town for sometime, I take the privilege of dropping 'ou a few-lines. few-lines. The marriage fever struck out-burg out-burg and quite a few have taken down with it. for it seems to be very contagious. The first ones taken were llansomeE. Han is and Miss Martha E. Morris, both of Portage. Then Win. Bell of Henderson Hen-derson Creek, Idaho, and Miss Centennial Cen-tennial Parkenson of Portage; also William Mar ton of Portage, and Miss Daisy Lott of Provo. The last ones to come down with it were David S. Morris of Portage, and Miss Susannah Green of Woodruff, Idaho. Where it will strike next it is hard to tell. We had a good time on Christmas, Christ-mas, a fine Xmas tree, loaded with ! things both useful and ornamental, ! made both old and young feel good, ! On the 29th the taxpayers voted 10 mills to raise funds to enable the school trustees to carry on some needful improvements. As we pulled through with a 20 mill tax last year we could stand 10 mills this year, when our prospects appear ap-pear a little brighter. On New Years eve the trustees gave their annual dance to raise wood for the school. From the appearance ap-pearance of the pile they must have been very successful. A fall of about two inches of fresh snow made it good sleighing on New Years day, and it looked as if all the people of town had taken advantage of it and were having a fine sleighride. W.
