Show New City Officers Formally Inducted Last Monday at high noon the mayor and members of the city council coun-cil which held forth at the helm of the municipal affairs of the city for the past two yeais, surrendered the reins to the new administration. The inaugural ceremonies, though brief, were impressive and the feeling of good fellowship showed to a marked degree. Following the finishing touches of the little business that remained re-mained for the retiring members, Mayor Jones announced that everything every-thing was in readiness for the transfer. trans-fer. "We Have endeavored to close up the affairs of the retiring council as far as practical, thus giving the incoming in-coming officers a clean slate," said Mayor Jones. "However, there are a few matters pending and could not be reached before the time for the new administration to take their seats. In surrendering the offices we want the mayor and council elect to know that we outgoing officers have the best friendly feeling and we will be glad, at any time, to lend any assistance in matters that may be asked. Our hearty cooperation will be with you in the development of the city and we all wish you the best in your administration." Parley Christiansen, mayor- elect, replying to the retiring mayor and city councilmen present, expressed himself as pleased with the attitude, and thanked the officers for their kindness and their proffers. The new administration consists of Parley Christiansen, as mayor; Ne-phi Ne-phi Gledhill, recorder; Evelyn Fjeldsted, Fjeld-sted, treasurer; June Metcalf, four-year four-year councilman; Chas. Rasmussen, A. H. Kearns and Lloyd Anderson, two-year councilmen. These, together togeth-er with John S. Peterson, holdover councilman, will comprise the munici-pa munici-pa officers for the corning two years. Following the transfer of records and other matters pertaining to the municipal affairs the new council went into executive session for a few minutes. The bonds of the mayor and councilmen of $1000 were approved. ap-proved. The bond for Miss Fjeldsted was held in abeyance, pending her decision of acceptance. |
