Show Woodruff Heads Near East Relief El ins S. Woodruff, former publisher publish-er and widely known throughout Utah in political and religious circles, has accepted the Utah chairmanship for the Near East Relief, in anticipation antici-pation of the observance of Golden Rule Sunday, December -Uh. Bishop Woodruff in announcing plans for the campaign, has said: "Our plan is immediately to appoint chairmen in every county of the state. A series of Golden Rule dinners din-ners will be held beginning immediately immediat-ely after Thanksgiving and extending extend-ing toward the Christmas season. "I know that a great many people may have the impression that the Near East Relief is merely a charitable chari-table Christian effort to care for unfortunates in a distant land without with-out realizing that the movement was begun in an emergency and, after fulfilling its mission, will cease to function. I feel that no one could be unwilling to do their part to finish the job in a way that all Americans Am-ericans would approve." To complete a thorough state working organization Mr. Woodruff will name county chairmen. A. B. Folger of Ogden, for Weber county, is the first chairman to be named. Others who will be active in the campaign cam-paign will be named soon. |
