Show Estimable Woman Buried at Manti The funeral services of "Miss Esther Bench, daughter of the late Geo. E. Bench Sr. and Jane Horton Bench, were held in the North Ward Chapel Sunday February 1st, atl 3:30 p. m. with Bishop E. T. Reid officiating. David Shand offered the opening prayer and Bishop Ernest Ern-est Madsen offered the benediction. The speakers were J. H. Carpenter, Hattie Perry, Pres. L. R. Anderson and Pres. J. B. Jacobson and Bishop Bish-op E. T. Reid. The opening song, I "Abide with Me", was rendered by .the choir. Special musical numbers j were as follows: Duet, Ellis Moffitt and N. P. Westenskow; Violin solo, Chauncy Witbeck, duet, Mrs. N. H. Felt and Mrs. Belle Barton, solo Mrs. Vera H. Keller. She was born at Manti March 7, 1867. Was a faithful member of j the L. D. S. church and filled with honor many offices in the same. She was a teacher in the Sabbath school, religion class and M. I. A. and for many years Stake President of the M. I. A. She devoted a great deal of time doing temple work and was a member of the Genealogical Society. She wa3 the same as a mother to two of her brother's children, they being Jeft motherless at the birth of the second one. Her entire life was forgetting self for the good of others. Being the second daughter in a family of 10 children and unmarried she helped to carry the burden of all the family and was always found where she could give a helping hand. She leaves an aged mother and the following brothers and sisters who mourn her loss: Mrs. A. D. Squire, Mrs. John II. Hall, Mrs. Frank Cox, Mrs. Frsd W. Cox, Frank Bench and Wilfred Bench of Manti, Mrs. L. A. Lauber of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Jos. A. Larsen of Gunnison. Floral offerings were many and beautiful. Manti Messenger. |
