Show Prominent Woman Is Called To Rest Following an illness of two years or more, which for the past several weeks kept her bedfast, Mrs. Emma Eliza Peterson, wife of ('has. I'. 1'et-erson, 1'et-erson, passed to the great unknown world last Sunday afternoon at five thirty. When the death summon came, which was peaceful and without with-out a struggle, the wife and mother was surrounded by members of the family. When Mrs. Peterson wan stricken with the malady some two I ycar3 ago that ultimately caused her j death, everything was done to check the ravages of the disease, but without with-out avail. Mrs. Peterson was born at May-field, May-field, Sunday, July 8, 1877, and her death summons came on Sunday. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. C. Christenscn. Twenty-four years ago she was married to Chas. P. Peterson. Resides the father, three children survive, Ryron, Ada and Imelda Peterson. Two sisters,! Mi's. Elsie Bartholomew and Mrs.' Elvona Clark, of Goshen, and fourj brothers, A. B. Christenscn of Salt j Iake, A. H. Christenscn of Provo, i L. D. Christenscn of Lyman, Wyo., and Arthur Christenscn of Manti, are also left as survivors. Through her splendid and womanly character-1 istics Mrs. Peterson made friends by : the score and with the announcement I of her death a gloom of sorrow was i cast over the entire community. j Mrs. Peterson was a faithful member mem-ber of the L. D. S. church, joining; when a young woman. In her early, days she was ever active in the vari- ous auxiliary organizations and af- j ter her marriage she acted as coun- j selor to officers in the Relief society; organization and at one time served j faithfully as president of the young ladies mutual. She kept up the work ' until her health was broken by sick-! ness. j Solemn and impressive funeral ser-vices ser-vices were held yesterday afternoon j at three o'clock, at the Gunnison Val- j ley high school building. Bishop j Chas. E. Embley of the Hamilton j ward was in charge. Mayor Parley j Christiansen, Arthur Larson, Bishop j Hans C. Olsen and Bishop Chas. E. j Embley spoke words of comfort to : those bereft and eulogized the splen- j did life Mrs. Peterson had led. Ap-1 propriate music was included in the i program and with a profusion of beautiful flowers, marking the esteem es-teem and respect held for the one i who had been called, the last sad j rites were closed. Interment was in j the Gunnison City cemetery. All th-1 brothers and sisters of Mrs. j Peterson, excepting A. B. Christensen of California, were present at the funeral services. Mr. Christensen j was unable to reach here in time. |
