Show Should Mean Much to Comrades Who Survive Present-day Americans cannot with wisdom desert the historic traditions which their forefathers held in such high regard. Memorial Day has of late years degenerated, not due to lack of zeal on the part of the few old soldiers sol-diers remaining, hut because of lack of appreciation by later generations of the spirit which actuated its inception. incep-tion. The World war took its awful toll ; thousands there are who sleep forever in France, or Belgium, or some other foreign land. The bodies of thousands more have found a last resting place In the native sod. Memorial Day should mean much to their comrades, to those who came safely home. And to the friends of those who came not back. Then let a nation rededicate itself to Memorial day, In the spirit which first inspired those who paid homage and respect to the soldier dead of the United States. Grit |
