Show Mayfield Students Given Diplomas Thirteen students were given diplomas dip-lomas at the graduating exercises held in the auditorium at Mayfield Friday evening of last week . The class just graduated include Thelma Anderson, Delma Anderson, Ellen Oberg, Florence Willardson, Blaine Anderson, Udell Christiansen, Cleon Whitlock, Lloyd Christiansen, Joseph Sorenson, Lee Larson, Grant Faatz, Niles Bogh and Ashley Nielson. Preceding Pre-ceding the presentation of the diploma's dip-loma's an interesting program was given in which the public schools and those form the ninth and tenth grades took part. The opening prayer pray-er was given by Cleon Whitbeck, after which Delma Anderson gave the address of welcome. Principal Wood-house Wood-house presented the diplomas and then the fourth and fifth grades gave a song, "Vacation." A song, "Poppies," "Pop-pies," was rendered by the first and second grades and a quadrille by the' third and fourth grades. A diologue by the first and second grades, a "Butterfly and Rose" drill, by the second and third grades, two one-act plays, "Popping the Question" and "A Bunch of Roses," were the concluding con-cluding numbers. Benediction was said by Blaine Anderson. Richard Swallow and son, George, of Shoshone, Nevada, spent Sunday here visiting with relatives and friends. They returend to Nevada Sunday and were accompanied by Misses Melpha and Alice Mortensen. The latter have been spending the winter at Mayfield attending school. Mrs. Mickel Jensen is visiting, at Salt Lake this week. i Miss Lillian Oberg was pleasantly surprised Wednesday evening of last week, by twelve girl friends. The occasion was the celebration of Miss Oberg's birthday anniversary. Mrs. Jed Hansen entertained in honor of the ninth birthday anniversary annivers-ary of her daughter, Eleanore, last Sunday afternoon. Games and romping romp-ing were enjoyed until four o'clock, when ' delicious refreshments were served. Mrs. Chris Stenberg returned home from Salt Lake last Wednesday, having spent a week at the capitol city visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Adly, who were married at Salt Lake just recently, re-cently, returned to Mayfield last Friday. Fri-day. Mrs. Adly was formerly Mrs. Olive Nielson and her many friends here tendered her a party Sunday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Dena Nielson. Many beautiful presents were received by Mrs. Adly. At four o'clock dainty refreshments were served the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Adly left Tuesday for Emery where they will make their home. |
