Show J MANTI NATIONAL j FOREST NOTES Forest Ranger Thomas, at Hunting- ton, found a fawn deer in one of the hunter's cabins on East Mountain. The hunter was arrested and taken to Castle Dale, where his case came up before Justice Miller on October 31st. We have not heard as to the action taken. Two other hunters, who had ac-cidently ac-cidently killed a doe, reported tho facts to Ranger 'Thomas, who advised advis-ed them that it would be necessary that they go before the Justice of the Peace and, plead guilty to killing the animal, and then if the Justice of the I'eace felt that there were extenuating ex-tenuating circumstances he could turn them loose or take what action the circumstances seemed to warrant. war-rant. On presenting! the skin for bounty at the county' court house, one of the county officers of-ficers took the skin, which was a I very fine one, and paid Mr. Fautz ! the $15.00, the amount of the bounty! on such animals. - ! I On the same day Royal Allred of Spring City, brought a fine brown j b"ar hide for bounty. This bear was i killed on Reeder Ridge during the ' latter part of September, after it! had destroyed between 25 and 30 head ; of sheep in one visit. j -. They wanted permission ; f o hunt in the head of Manti canyon, j but it was impossible for state game j j wardens to come to supervise the j hunt so it was up to them to get I ' heir elk either in Salina canyon or on Nebo, w-here hunting parties were i ! organized. |
