Show Emhezzles Foods Then Pleads Guilty Mary E. Jacobson, formerly postmaster post-master at Axtell, pleaded guilty before be-fore Judge Tillman D. Johnson, of the federal court at Salt Lake City, of embezzling $537, while serving as ' postmaster. Mrs. Jacobson was tak en to Salt Lake anil when confronted with the charge she pleaded guil'y and the time for sentence was set for Jnnuary 23, according to publi?hed statements in the Tribune of Wed- nosday. Suspicion was aroused by postal i inspectors some time ago and a close I watch was made and some two months ago the embezzling of funds was dis-, covered. It is not learned how long1 the postmaster has been appropriat- j ing the funds, but in as much as the1 receipts are very light, it is stated that the operations had been extended over a long period. The money taken by Mrs. Jacob-son, Jacob-son, it is said, has been replaced ard all shortages have been covered.
