There is no question but what a limited amount of chance is taken when you send mojiey to far-off mailorder houses. You specify your wants when you bundle up your money and send it away. The manager of the mail order houses, in his big catalog and for which you help to pay, both for the printing and for the transportation to your home, specifically says that .the right' is reserved to substitute in the: eventl that the goods sent for is; not in! stock. In the knowledge know-ledge of the writer, it has been known to occur to buyers from the mail order houses, and where a particular kind of dress goods, or a certain part of machinery had been ordered. When the goods were received they were not a sordered and could not be used. But the foreign merchant was not the one to worry it was the home vbuyer, who sent his or her money away. And it was the home buyer buy-er that had to suffer. It has always been the custom and is practiced daily, that if an article is not just what is wanted an exchange can be made. This is the courtesy and accomodation the home town merchant extends to his customers. But what does the mail order man do? He lets you fret and declare you will quit sending1 your money away until the occasion presents itself, then out goes another order, and maybe the same result no satisfaction. If the buyers of Gunnison will firmly get the idea into, their heads that by supporting the Gunnison merchants, they are "helping to support themselves, then and only then, will local merchants be. better bet-ter able to supply all the needs, and the idea, of sending away for this and that will be done away with. And is it fair" to your own home town merchants to buy elsewhere? When times are tight and money scarce, is it not the home town merchant that extends accomodation of credit? Does the mail order man do this for a small amount of groceries or afew yards of cloth? He does not cash must accompany the order. Play fair with your home merchants. They are helping you and it is just and right that you return the courtesy. BUY FROM GUNNISON GUN-NISON MERCHANTS AND HELP; BUILD GUNNISON, YOUR SCHOOLS AND CHURCHES..
