Show WELCOME NEW YEAR Today marks the closing of another year, and tomorrow the sprightly youngster 1926 makes his bow to the nation. Of course tne world will welcome the newcomer and of course everybody is trusting he has something real good in store that he will distribute throughout his reign. And all indications point to a better and more prosperous time than that that has been dealt out during the past tew years. Big manufacturing concerns of the east, where the pulse of industry takes its first throb, is marking time with full capacity runs, finances of the nation are in better condition than for years, and here in Utah where the mining industry is paramount, there is an encouraging en-couraging movement for reviving it to its large production, of years ago. The beet sugar industry, which is making Utah famed, is spreading spread-ing and the coming year will more than likely see a bigger and richer production than at any time since the war. New coal fields are being opened up and paramount is the striking of oil in big paying quantities quanti-ties in Southeastern Utah. This feature alon,e will mark an era of prosperity never known to the state. The iron mills and the mines from which the crude product is taken is bringing wealth to the commonwealth com-monwealth and hundreds find profitable employment through this source, and altogether the coming of the new year promises better than ever before. But 1925 did not prove so badly. There were abundant crops and the farmers werel benefitted by price advances that were unexpected. unex-pected. True, conditions could have been better during the year just ending, but all in all it was a good year and this was evidenced by all during the holidays, as happiness and plenty of money seemed at hand to bring joy and comfort. Let us all look forward to 1926 as one of the years that will surpass even the best, and with it bring health, happiness and prosperity. |
