Show four Year Old Boy Frightfully Burned Henry Hammond, the 4-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hammond Ham-mond is lying at his home at Fayette Fay-ette suffering from severe burns he received last Monday afternoon. 'Hie child is in a piecarious condition condi-tion as the result of the fearful burns anj every medical attention is being aduinisteieJ by Dr. Hagan to save the little life. IIcnryf after :j curing some matches and wandering to a pile of posts and logs, stationed several hundred feet f.om t.e Hammond home, started a fire in some bark and a gust of wind started llie blaze with fury. Henry, in trying to get away, had his left foot caught between two posts and was held a prisoner, while the flames crept closer and set fire to his clothing'. Unable to extricate himself, the boy was held fast while the blaze consumed his clothing up to the middle of his body. At this time the strings of his shoe were burned and Henry was then able to pull his foot to freedom. Although suffering suffer-ing intensely he managed to get to his home and Mr. and Mrs. Hammond hurriedly brought the boy to Gunnison Gunni-son where first aid treatment was given and a careful examination was made of the burns. It was found that the left leg from the ankle up to a point just above the knee, was sea-e 1 almost to a crisp-ns--!. Fro-n just above the knee to the lower part of the abdomen the boy was also terribly scarred while I ho rlothirg was slowly burned from the little bodv. Little Henry, while suffering intose pru'n. shows a great "'-' 1 of I'o't'Uido and is making a vnHnnt fight for h;s life. Mt. and Mrs Hammond had the misfortune to lose their 12-year-old daughter last November when a sand bank caved, entombing the girl until her life was taken through suffocation. |
