Show Timely Suggestions For Xmas Mailing Post offices will make every effort to handle the Christmas mails without with-out congestion, but owing to the enormous volume this can only be with the cooperation of the public. Compliance with the following suggestions sug-gestions will greatly aid the post office and insure prompt handling of your mail: Shop early and mail early for early delivery. There will be no deliveries of mail on Christmas, day. All parcels must be securely wrapped. wrap-ped. Use strong paper and heavy twine. Addresses should be complete, and typed or .plainly written in ink; A return card should be placed in the upper left hand cornier of every piece of mail. Articles easily broken or crushed, must be cyated or securely packed. Articles likely to spoil within 'the time reasonably (required for! transportation trans-portation and delivery will not be accepted ac-cepted for mailing. Use special delivery deliv-ery stamps to: expidite delivery. A.ll valuable domestic parcel post mail should be insured. Coin, currency, curren-cy, jewelry, and articles of similar value should be sent as sealed first class registered mail. WHEN TO MAIL Mail addressed to points within one day's travel should be mailed not later than December Dec-ember 20th; within two day's travel, not later than December 18th; within three day's travel, not later than December 16th; and for more distant points, not later than December 14th. Parcels and cards for local delivery -hould not be mailed later than December Dec-ember 23rd. Parcels and envelopes may be endorsed, "Please do not open before Christmas." CHRISTMAS CARDS The early mailing of Christmas cards is just as important as parcels. Millions of cards are mailed each Christmas, and when mailed within a day or two of Christmas great congestion, and delay de-lay occurs. If you want holiday greetings to reach relatives and friends on or before Christmas d.av. follow the instructions in the preceding preced-ing paragraph relative to mailing early. |
