Show Five Wigs Helped Him Live Two Lives in Paris Paris. An amazing double life for four years has been lived by the six-ty-three-year-old cashier of the Opera Cotnique, one of the state theaters of Pa ris. This bald-headed little man, who has startled the directors of the theater thea-ter by confessing to the embezzlement of nearly 7,000, has led for 34 years what is apparently a most regular and respectable married life as a Parisian of the modest middle class on a salary of 20 a month. He is now discovered to have lived since 1920 a parallel existence in a. disguise which no one for a moment suspected. In this role he would leave the theater at nine o'clock and visit a young woman whom he had taken under his protection, and to whom, in addition to paying her living expenses, ex-penses, he allowed 40 a month pocket money. At midnight he would return to his "dressing room," take off his disguise and, half an hour latr, arrive at the tiny flat where his wife and daughter lived, bearing no sign of his nightly metamorphosis into a rich man-about-town. |
