Show Married 50 Years; Event Celebrated Surrounded by their children and a host of friends, Mr .and Mrs. W. I D. Childs, well known pioneers of Centerfield, celebrated their golden I wedding anniversary last Saturday afternoon and evening. The occasion occa-sion proved the real social event of , the week and fifty-two relatives and C friends gathered to pay homage to the widely known and popular couple. cou-ple. The feature of the afternoon pastime was an elaborate chicken dinner served at four o'clock. During Dur-ing the early evening a miost enjoyable enjoy-able time was had at games, music and a social time. At 11 o'clock another an-other supper was served and when the guests extended the greetings and wended their way to their respective re-spective homes, there was a fond remembrance re-membrance of the splendid time enjoyed en-joyed in celebrating with Mr. and Mrs. Childs. The home had been profusely decorated with fall flowers and the setting cleverly harmonized with the spirit predominating at the occasion of the celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Childs were married at Centerfield November 20th, 1876, and have resided continuously there since. They have seven children living, liv-ing, six of whom were present at the colebration. Mrs. George Fetterman, of Los Angeles, was unable to be here. The children attending the party Saturday were Mrs. Ralph Hayward of Murray, Eldon Childs of Salt Lake, and Hubert Childs, Mrs. Albert Higham, Darrel Childs and Mrs. Henry Simonsen of Center-field. Center-field. There were twenty grandchildren grand-children and one great-grandchild present. Other guests attending were Mr. and Mrs. James Metcalf of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kearney of Stockton, Stock-ton, Mr; and Mrs. Lawrence Fryer of Tremonton, and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Fryer of Collingston, and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Gribble, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Childs, Mrs. L. Tollestrup. H. M. Childs, P. P. Childs and J. M. Knighton of this city. |
