Show Under the terms of the agreement :he U. S. Forest Service agrees to lease available camp sites within the national forests to the Boy Scouts; o cooperate in the teaching of forestry for-estry and wood lore; to give employment employ-ment to qualified scouts in reforestation, refor-estation, trail building and forest protection work, where such employ-ant employ-ant is sanctioned by law and funds ue available, and to give suitable recognition to all scouts who perform errlorious fork service. Tjhc Boy Scouts of America in turn agree co practice and preach care with fire ;n the woods; to leave camps clean tnd signs unmutilated; to distribute .'Jeratttfil (during forest protection .nd fire prevention campaigns, and 0 assist where practicable in national na-tional improvement work. Boy Scouts and the Forest Service Ser-vice have long been cooperating: in-' in-' t mally, jstatles District forester, I. H. Rutledge. This formal agree nent will go to make their relationship relation-ship even more intimate, however, ;nd will serve to promote the ideals both partners in the contract to 1 greater degree. I Scouts Will Aid j In Forest W ork A cooperative agreement designed to develop the interests of the Boy' Scouts of America in forestry and in! the use and protection of' the nation-j al forests and to secure their help in spreading the conservation idea, 1 among our citizens, lias just been signed by Regional Scout Executive Chas. N: 'iMler Los Angeles, ton behalf of the Boy Scouts of America, Amer-ica, Region Twelve, and United States Sta-tes District Foresters R. II. Rutledge, Ogdcn, Ut?h, Paul G. Redington, of San Francisco, and Frank C. Pooler, Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the Forest Service, according to a report re-port made public today by the Federal Fed-eral 'forestry headpuarters in this city. All Boy Scouts and U. S. Forest For-est Service officials in California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona the states comprising Region Twelve of the Boy Scouts organization, will cooperate co-operate in this work. |
