Show Mrs. J. B. Roper entertained for the members of; the O. N. O. club al her home Thursday evening of last week. Mali Jonng proved on interesting inter-esting diversion during the evening At ten thirty dainty refreshments were served by the hostess. Mrs. Alice L. Doke, representing the . Penn Mutual Life Insurance company, and Mr. Doke,. one of Sanpete San-pete county's leading stockbuyers, were here from Ephraim Friday of last week. Mrs. Doke just recently returned from an extended business trip which took her to Seattle where she ' attended the western regional convention of the representatives of her company, and to San Francisco and Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker and children, who came here from Brant Alta,' Canada, to visit at the home cf Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Madsen and to spend the holiday with friendt and relatives, left for their home Monday of this week. The Parkers had planned to leave last week, but members of the family were stricken with the flu-grippe and as a result the homeward trdp was postponed. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Doherty have returned from a week's vacation trip to Salt Lake. They were the guests of friends while at the capitol city. Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Kansler, Fred and Helen Kansler of Ephraim, and Mrs. Jacob J'ohnson of Spring City, were here Sunday for a brief visit. , Miss Zella- Postel of Salt Lake, and who was the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Doherty at their home in Ccnterf ield for a few days last week, returned to her home Monday. ! . LOCAL ITEMS I OF INTEREST Mr. and Mrs. II. A. KearnsK, who spent the holidays at Ogden visiting with their sons, E. B. and Henry Kearns, have returned to their home in Gunnison. Henry Christensen, for the past six months linotype operator for the News, tendered his resignation last week and has gone to Nephi where he has accepted a similar position with the Times-News. Robert H. Pattillo, of Kaysville, is now filling the job on the News. Mr. and Mrs. John Edwards returned re-turned last Sunday from Goshen, where they had gone Friday to visit at the home of Mr, and Mrs.' Clifton Edwards. Will Nielson, who had been at Salt Lake several days consulting with a specialist, returned home yesterday. Mr. Nielson will return to Salt Lake! in a few days and will' undergo a slight operation in the hopes of overcoming over-coming an effected sinus. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Arnold, Mar-jorie Mar-jorie and Earl Arnold, spent several days at Salt Lake, returning, home Monday of this week. " Mrs. C. W. McDowell, who spent several days liere as the guest of relatives and friends, left for her homa at Star, Idaho, Fridayof last week. Mrs. McOowell was ' called here at the death of her brother, Charles Beemus, and it was her first j visit td the valley in ten years. Whittenburg were motor travelers to Salt Lake the early part of last week. Mr. Whittenburg came back Sunday and Mrs. Whittenburg will remain a week as the guest at the home of Mrs. Jack Kendall. Mrs. A. J. Thompson and son, Her-I Her-I bsrt, and Mrs. F. A. Beck, were Sa-lina Sa-lina visitors Tuesday. Superintendent Hart J. Sanders of the Gunnison Sugar company, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Sanders, have returned re-turned from a combined business and pleasure trip to Salt Lake. Mr. Sanders San-ders was in conference with the sugar su-gar company officials. George Douglas and Rex Kearns have gone to Dividend where they will look over the situation and will likely go' to work in some of the mines of that district. Mrs. Hyrum Christiansen was hostess hos-tess to fourteen guests Wednesday evening of last week at a social time. Neediecraft was the enjoyable diversion and during this time Mrs. Leslie Kidman gave, a reading. Refreshments Re-freshments were served at ten thirty. Mrs. Joseph S. Christensen lias returned re-turned from a two-weeks visit at Magna, where she was the guest of relatives. On her return trip Mrs. Christensen was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Alta Lay and -the later la-ter will be here for some time visiting visit-ing with her parents. Mrs. John Allmendinger and Irene Allmendinger returned home last Friday from a week's visit at coast points. They spent the holidays at Los Angeles and other Southern California Cal-ifornia points visiting with friends. Mrs. P. O. Anderson of Drum-mond, Drum-mond, Idaho, is in the city and is the guest at the home of Mr. and Sirs. J. S. Peterson. Mrs. Anderson came down fcr the holidays and has been visiting with friends at Sterling Ster-ling and Centerfield, and expects to remain here for a month or more. G. R. Hain, field man for the Central Cen-tral U. S. Swine company, spent a few days here this week in the interests in-terests of his company. While here Mr. Hain purchased a truck load of fat hogs Which were sent to the Ogden Og-den wholesale houses. - i |
