Wallis, executive secretary sec-retary of the Utah Public ellalth Association As-sociation was introduced to the audience audi-ence by Principal Metcalf, and was vigorously applauded. Mr. Wallis expressed ex-pressed the appreciation of the Association Asso-ciation he represented, for the splendid splen-did sale of Christmas Seals in Gunnison Gun-nison under the direction of Mrs. J. He then described describ-ed the different films, and emphasized empha-sized the lessons they portrayed. "The Tournamen-t of Youth," dealing deal-ing with the necessity of proper quarantining of contagious disease, and the value ofthe Modern Health Crusade in the schools, in teaching-proper teaching-proper health heabits to the children, was then shown,' and explained by M. At night, Mr. Wallis and Mr. Park er, went to Fayette where another larger audience enjoyed the pictures and talks. Every place in Sanpete County has been visited. By actual count over ! 4,000 people saw the pictures in North Sanpete school dictrict and th is week has been spent among the schools of South Sanpete. Besides this, Mr. Wallis has gone into the schools and talked to the children on health lines. Next week will be spent in Sevier county, and possibly part of the week following. Then on to Piute and Garfield counties. Every county is to be visited, and it will be at least seven months before a complet trip of the state will be made. County Superintendent Edgar G. Reid was in Gunnison and Fayette Wednesday seeing that all arrangements arrange-ments were made for the. entertainments, entertain-ments, and expressed himself very highly at the value of the service rendered by the Utah Public Health Association. County Superintendent Louis A. Peterson of the North Sanpete school district sent Mr. Wallis the following letter of appreciation: "Dear Mr. Wallis: I am anxious that you should know that we appre-cate appre-cate your splendid service in coming into our district and placing before the public and the school children such a wonderful collection of health films. To say the films are educational educa-tional and uplifting is saying very little as to their real value. They furnish the best kind of background for our health education in the schools, and they have done much, I am sure, to strengthen the cause of public health among our school patrons. I have heard numerous expressions ex-pressions of appreciation from all parts of the distrcit since your visit with us. The large and enthusiastic audiences have been a testimonial to the effective service you are giving. "Not only do we value the film service, but especially the fact that you are able personally to direct the work and to appear before the pupils and parents presenting before them the 'Gospel of Good Health.'" |
