Show Prominent Citizens United In Marriage A marriage in which two of Gun-t Gun-t nison's prominent business and so- cial leaders were the principals, was performed at Nephi Tuesday of last week when H. A. Kearns and Ellen Hofheins were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. .While it had been formally announced that the marriage would take place, the many friends had not been appraised of the exact time, and the announcement announce-ment came as a surprise. The ceremony cere-mony was performed by Bishop P. : B. Cowan, a life-long friend and acquaintance ac-quaintance , of Mr. Kearns, and the witnesses were G. M Brough, vice-president vice-president and cashier, and Harry , Goldbrough, an official of the Nephi j National bank. The ceremonies were ' simple and following the extending of ; best wishes Mr. and Mrs. Kearns motored to Salt Lake for a brief honeymoon trip. They spent Christmas Christ-mas day at American Fork with relatives. rela-tives. Mr. Kearns returned home Monday but Mrs. Kearns was delay-1 ed due to a slight attack of ptomaine poisoning. j Both the bride and groom are well j and favorably known in Gunnison, i they having resided here for many j j years past. . Mr. Kearns is a stock- ! I holder in and is the Southern Utah I representative for the Occidental Seed company. He has . followed mining, stockraising and various professions and has been a leader in politics and civic enterprises. Mrs. Kearns is at the head of the Royal Neighbors of this city and during dur-ing the war .took an active part in Red Cross work, serving as an officer offi-cer of the local oi'ganization. During j the past six years she has. served as j city treasurer. " I Mr. and Mrs. Kearns will make Gunnison their home. They may, however, make a trip to the coast in the early spring. They have ! hosts of warm and admiring friends who will join in extending the best wishes for a happy and prosperous matrimonial voyage. ' ' |
