Show Asks Filing of j Disabilty Claims Dr. B. W. Black, sub-district manager man-ager of the United States Veteran's Bureau ,at Salt Lake City, desires to impress the ex-service men with the necessity of filing their claims for disabilities which were received while in service during the late war. Section 300 of the War Risk Insurance In-surance Act dated October G, 1917, provides as follows: "That no compensation shall be payable unless claim therefore be filed, in case of disability, within five years after discharge or resignation from service, or, in case of death during dur-ing the service, within five years after af-ter death is officially recorded in the department under which he may be serving - Provided, however, that where compensation com-pensation is payable for death or disability dis-ability occuring after discharge or resignation from the service, claim must be made within five years after such death or the beginning of such disability." Since the majority of men were discharged dis-charged in 1919, this year, 1924, will be the last year most of the men can file claim. In extreme cases, where a good cause is shown, the Director may extend the time one year longer. |
