Show Increased Salaries For City Officers At a meeting of "the city council la.st Saturday evening, salaries for the city ollicials, which have been lower than any other city of its size in th(! .state, were given a "boost" anil hereafter the city ollicials who devote so much of their time to the all'airs of the municipal government will be better compensated. This action ac-tion was taken after careful consideration con-sideration and due to the fact that the city is growing and the burden of the ofliceis have been increased il was deemed proper to make the changes .in the schedule of salaries. An ordinance has been prepared and it arrears in another column of the News, giving the changes decreed by the members. Accoiding to the ordinance the schedule of salaries as has been suggested sug-gested is as follows: ' Former Future Mayor, per year $ 50 $100 Councilmen, per year. . ',',0 00 R'coi der, per year.... 00 125 Treasurer, per year. . . . -15 125 Marshal, per month... 75 75 Watermaster, per year. 150 150 Street Sup'r, per year. 150 150 The ordinance provides for a salary sal-ary of $75 per year for the city attorney at-torney and provision is made for a reasonable compensation for services as may be agreed upon by the city council. For the justice of the peace such legal fees as are or may be prescribed pre-scribed by the state laws. The poundkeeper shall receive as his compensation one-half of all legal fees collected by him. A salary of $50 per year and three-fourths three-fourths of all legal fees is provided for the city sexton. The city engineer shall receive $5.00 per day when actually employed employ-ed by the city. Inspectors shall receive re-ceive 40 cents an hour when doing duty for the city in an official capacity. capac-ity. Members of the board of health, when serving the city in an official capacity will receive 40 cents per hour. For all special meeting of the city council, the members attending will receive $2.00, and compensation for committee work will be allowed I at the rate of $3.50 per day.
