Show Better Schools for City Keynote of Big Meeting Parents and Faculty Ask Social Restrictions Re-strictions to Qualify Students For Better School Work. If the movement started in Gunnison Gunni-son and which was widely exploited at a mass meeting of the parents of the school students held at the City Mall last Tuesday night, is put into dffect, social functions, parties, danc-.s danc-.s and other amusements that will in iny way interfere with the studies and progress of the students of the schools, will be largely curtailed. At the meeting and at which were some hundred or more of the citizens, reso-ditions reso-ditions were passed that ask that the cooperation of civic, social and relig-ous relig-ous organizations join in the move-neat move-neat to discourage riny of the amusements amuse-ments named on Mondo.y, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights of each week. The object cf the movement is to enthuse students of the school in the studies and duties before them dur-ng dur-ng the school days ot the week. It .vas brought out that dances during nid-week had a strong tendency to Reflect from the school work and hat the pupils who do attend dances it this time are unfit for the real llork that is expected from them. Not only are dances discouraged at .he mid-week periods, but it was recommended rec-ommended that a committee be appointed ap-pointed to visit the "management of he Centerfield dance hall and endeavor en-deavor to invoke his aid by having him change the dance night from Thursday night to Friday night. Cooperation of the parents was .he keynote of the meeting and it .vas strongly impressed that in order o cbtain the best results from school .hat curtailment of functions that would tend to keep students up late it night be carried out as far as practical. To this end an organization organiza-tion will be effected at a meeting which will be held next Thursday light and at which time reports of he progress of the committees will be heaiVl. The following resolutions were idopted at the Tuesday night meet--ng. Vniusement.s. 1. We recommend that all parties ind entertainments be discouraged and restricted in so fur as is reasonable reason-able and possible-on Monday, Tuesday. Tues-day. Wednesday and Thursday nights. 2. We recommend that all organizations, organ-izations, social, civic and religious, discourage entertainments on the above named nights. 3. In asmuch as this program cannot be' made effective because of the Thursday night dances at Olym-pia Olym-pia Hall at Centerfield, we recommend recom-mend (hat a committee be appointed io call upon the manager of the hall for the purpose of inducing him to change t he dance night to Friday or Saturday. We further recommend . (hat in case the manager docs not j comply with Ibis request, this same committee be instructed to wait upon the parent-teachers' organization and the Town board of Centerfield for the purpose of enlisting their support to this program. The Curlew. 1. We favor a rigid enforcement of the curfew law. 2. We recommend that the city council be waited upon to pass an ordinance or-dinance extending the curfew law age from 16 years as it now, stands to IS years. Follow-Vp System. 1. In order that there will be a follow-up system to check up the results re-sults achieved by this proposed program pro-gram we recommend that each high school student and each pupil in the grammar grades be required to fill out a card at the end of each week which will show his whereabouts on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights of each week.
