Show FIRE DESTROYS JENSEN HOME A fire which broke out last Saturday Satur-day afternoon at 1:30 totally destroyed de-stroyed the beautiful home of Peter Jensen, one of the leading farmers at Centerfield. The fire was first dis-j. dis-j. covered by P. M. Sorenson, a neighbor, neigh-bor, and the alarm was immediately given and notwithstanding the fact that many volunteers responded, the low pressure of the water in the city mains and the frozen condition of the ditches, made fire fighting impossible impossi-ble and all that was left of the home was the bleak and blackened walls. Mr. Jensen's loss will amount close to $3,000, and it will be total loss as no insurance was carried. It was while the Jensen family were at the noon day meal when they were informed their home wa: ablaze. Inasmuch as the fire started on the roof of the building, supposedly suppos-edly from a defective wire, the Jensens Jen-sens were unconscious that their home was burning and when advised of the fact by Mr. Sorenson, steps were taken to save all that was possible. pos-sible. Practically all of the household house-hold effects on the lower floors were removed by the volunteers. A large amount of household goods were stored on the upper floor and all of this went up in smoke. Although made homeless by the loss of their home the members of the Jensen family were taken care of and are with friends. Mr. Jensen-announces Jensen-announces that he will rebuild jus( as soon as he can arrange for mater-Jal. |
