Show Brass'and Bronze. Brass is an alloy of zinc and copper, cop-per, bronze of tin rtid copper. Brass consists of about 30 per cent of zinc and the remaimier of copper. Bronze consists of copper and tin in various proportions, according to the use to be made of it. For coins or tokens the proportions are 95 per cent copper and 5 per cent tin. A slight addition of other substances, such as phosphorus, phos-phorus, zinc, or aluminum, produces other alloys known as phosphor-bronze, hearing metal and aluminum bronze. |
