TUFT IRA OVERFELT ANTHONY MADSEN The primary of the Good Government Govern-ment party, held at the city hall Monday evening of this week, named a strong ticket, and the meeting, which had been adjourned from last week, was largely attended. Chairman Chair-man C. M. Madsen, who presided at the primary, opened the meeting with a few remarks. He urged those present to be careful in selecting a ticket to place before the citizens of Gunnison for the coming November election, adding., that the present administration, ad-ministration, through its consistent and persisting methods of giving a conservative and economical administration admin-istration had accomplished more for this city than any administration which had served the city for the post nueen years, me money that has been spent, said Chairman Mad-sen, Mad-sen, had been spent with the sanction of the citizens, and in every instance the city had received and will receive re-ceive full value. When nominations were called for J. A- Tuft, in a brief and commendatory commenda-tory address, placed tho name of J. W. Jones, incumbent, for the office of mayor. There were no other names mentioned, and Mr. Jones' name was taken by storm, and he was placed on the ticket by acclamation. Clifford Childs, present city recorder, re-corder, was named for re-election by IT. W. Cherry. Mr. Childs had no opposition op-position and he was the unanimous choice of the primary. For the office of city treasurer, Mrs. Ellen Hofheins was named by L. H. Childs. For the office of four-year councilman council-man there were two nominees. Chas. Rasmussen was named by A. E. Park and John S. Peterson was nominated by Reuben Christensen. In the vote Mr. Peterson was the favorite, and won by a large majority of the voters vot-ers present for the office. J. A. Tuft, Ira Overfelt, and Anthony An-thony Madsen were tho unanimous choice of the primary for the offices of two-year councilmen. N. L. Her-mansen, Her-mansen, whose name was presented for the nomination as councilman, declined to allow his name to go before be-fore the primary for nomination. An executive committee consisting of ten was named as follows: O. B. Bergluud, Niel Sorenson, L. II. Childs, W. II. Gribble, Joseph Blixt, Reuben Christensen, Ross Tollestrup. John M. Kearns, Hugh Kearns anil N. L. Hermansen. |
