Show Services Are Held For Guy MetcaL Simple and impressive funeral services were held at noon last Saturday Sat-urday for Guy Metcalf. the 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Met- calf of Centerfleld . Services were conducted at the family residence and were under the direction of Bish- op Soren Anderson. Invocation wan ! offered by Hans Jensen, after which the choir sang "O My Father." Leo Beck was the first speaker, and in his remarks he paid a high 1 tribute to the young boy who sn-! sn-! swered the final call. Another selec-I selec-I tion by the choir, "Rock of Ages," was followed by an address by Bishop Bish-op Anderson As tho closing song the choir sang "Something we'll Understand." Un-derstand." Benediction was offered by George Petersen and the grave was dedicated by Carl Nielson. Guy Metcalf was born in Center-field, Center-field, October Hi, 1909. and died at the Salina hospital Novomber 1G, 1921. The young boy was strickon with typhoid fever on Sunday, November No-vember 13, When his case was found to be of a serious nature he was rushed to the Salilia hospital for treatment, but the ravages of the disease dis-ease had gained such headway that medical aid was of no value and ho passed peacefully away in the presence pres-ence of his prents, who had accompanied accom-panied the little fellow to -the hospital. hospi-tal. Guy was a student of the Lincoln school at Centerfleld. He was an exceptionally ex-ceptionally bright boy and he numbered num-bered his friends by the hundreds. His death is keenly felt by his parents par-ents and relatives, as well as by his many admiring schoolmates. The funeral was largely attended, friends being there from many of the adjoining towns and settlements. The floral offerings were profuse and spoke the feeling of those who will grieve at the death of Guy Metcalf. |
